CT Veteran Grown posted about us on May 28, 2026. You can see it on our Facebook Page, theirs, and on Instagram. They did a great job.

I am posting it here as well, since someone dear to us told us we ‘have to share it with everyone, because it is too good not to share, but not everyone is on Facebook, and even on Facebook we don’t always see the things we subscribe to.’ I agreed to post it here. So it can be shared and viewed freely by anyone who wants to read it. Thank you, Pat. You’re awesome.

This month, we are proud to feature Mark and Susanne Hall of Stefanfarms in Windsor. As a true "Mom & Pop" operation, the Halls manage everything themselves. They’ve built a reputation for high-quality produce at prices that ensure healthy food isn't a luxury item. Susanne calls their approach "minimalistic-alternative"—growing food with integrity because, as she puts it, “We grow food that we want to eat too. And if we would not eat it, we would not sell it.”

For the Halls, farming is a way of life that dictates their daily rhythm.. As Susanne explains, “We are so connected that we feel when it’s time to plant, and we get tired when the plants get tired in the fall. It might seem imagined, but it is not. This is how one ‘just knows’ things.” This dedication shows in their products, particularly their corn, which customers have traveled far and wide to compare against all others.

Army Veteran Mark Hall served in Desert Shield and Desert Storm, with stations spanning from South Korea and Germany to Fort Bragg and Fort Hood. He brings a lifelong passion for the land to his work today. For Mark, being a CT Veteran farmer is about “bringing resilience, discipline, and service to the land—honoring the past while building a sustainable future.”

Stefan Farms produces a massive variety of produce, including tomatoes, carrots, beets, hot peppers, watermelons, pumpkins, and sweet potatoes. Beyond the harvest, Susanne is an herbalist, offering "slow shopping" and one-on-one customer service to anyone with questions about gardening, herbs, or cooking. They also manage a donation program to help neighbors with food security, ensuring that excess produce goes exactly where it is needed most. “This is how caring should work,” says Susanne.

Whether you are looking for a unique, customizable CSA or retail shopping, Stefan Farms offers several ways to bring fresh food to your table. Visit the farm stand, sign up for their CSA, find them at Windsor Center Market, or order online for pick up.
