⚠️ Weather Warning: The Sky May Be Feeling Dramatic
Tomorrow’s forecast is looking a little theatrical—3–4 inches of rain, possible thunderstorms, and even a touch of hail. We are still open, but please use caution. If the weather turns wild, stay in your car—we’ll keep watch and come out to assist, but close the gate when it is lightening. We'll open back up when it's over.
But you don't have to rearrange your schedule for the pickup.
Storms are fickle creatures. Sometimes they thunder in full of sound and fury, and sometimes they just grumble and drift by. So unless it becomes truly unsafe, we’re staying open, soggy boots and all. But your safety comes first. (Zucchini comes fourth.)
🥕 Row Gossip — Because you deserve the dirt first.
🍈 Cantaloupe have entered the chat.
They’ve arrived in style—sweet, round, fragrant, and free. One per share while the stash holds out. They're already giving peachy side-eyes to the tomatoes.
🍅 Tomatoes are blushing.
We suspect they’ve overheard too much gossip from the dill patch. There aren’t many just yet, but we’re including them. Treat them gently—they're feeling tender and dramatic.
🥬 Lettuce has made a cautious comeback.
One per share this week. It's peeking out of the soil like, “Are we cool yet?” Cooler weather would be deeply appreciated—by lettuce, and your wilted farmers.
🌿 Horehound made a cameo appearance and—despite being bitter enough to end a relationship—was oddly popular. A few of you even took it home to tincture. That’s some serious herbal street cred.
🍋 Lemon balm is flattered.
The attention of being repeatedly requested has made it even more chipper than usual, which is saying something. It’s resting up for a fresh round of harvesting soon, to be its best self for you.
🌿 Oregano had a full glow-up.
Turns out, being noticed for your medicinal gifts is great for morale. Oregano is walking around with a newfound sense of self after being requested for a project. Mood-lifting, indeed.
🥕 Carrots are in their prime.
They've reached the sweet spot—literally. Bigger, bolder, but still tender as ever. Practically writing their own self-help book: “Grow Through What You Go Through.”
🥬 Cabbage is demanding respect.
Some heads sized up nicely. Others still prefer the compact life, hanging back in their leafy hoodies.
🟩 Green zucchini are sulking.
They’re having a rough patch, possibly existential. The gold zucchini are not concerned—they're thriving, glowing, and absolutely not sharing their therapist.
🌽 Corn is on sale, bagged and brilliant.
Perfect for freezing (nice large kernels), hoarding, or bribing neighbors. Grab extras if you like.
🕊️ Speaking of corn... the birds have gone full Hitchcock.
When startled, they lift off like feathery shadows and momentarily eclipse the sun. It’s impressive, until you remember they’re stealing your future dinner. Uncool.
🥒 Pickles are in peak form.
They’ve been flying out by the box, clinging to bouquets of blooming dill like prom dates. It’s a whole vibe. Right now, we have so many of the perfect size (whatever that means to you) that we caught up with all the orders. -Just in case you're interested in a bulk order.
🌿 Dill is fading—but still fab.
A little is left, but don’t wait. There’s another patch, but it’s playing hard to get behind a curtain of weeds. We may need to send a search party.
🧂 PSA: Dill is not just for pickles.
Try it dried in potato dishes, tossed in salads, or mixed with yogurt for a cucumber-dill dressing so good it should be illegal.
🚜 Tractor news: it lives!
Thanks to a “new-to-us” tire and a rim (yes, the pickles were right again), our loyal Farmall is back in action. The crops exhaled in unison.
To the vegetables, the tractor isn’t just a machine—it’s a sheepdog. It breaks the soil, defends against weed invasions, and glides through rows like a crop whisperer. Hoeing still happens, but now it’s possible instead of soul-crushing.
That’s the gossip from the rows for now. Still plenty of:
Greens
Beets
Eggplant
Squash (the cooperative kind)
Cucumbers & pickles
Onions
And likely something else we forgot, because again: birds and critters.
